The Code Podcast is hosted by Rob Magao, 25 year law enforcement officer, second- degree black belt in Gracie Jiu-jitsu, academy owner and head instructor of the Officer Survival Series. Throughout history those who are trained in Martial Arts live by a code... a code of honor, respect, and tradition. A code that both law-enforcement officers and martial artists live by. We will interview unique people that live by this code and hear their stories.

Episode #21, We interview Jiu-jitsu Pioneer RICHARD BRESLER and chat about his book "Worth Defending, How Gracie Jiu-jitsu Saved My Life". It documents the early stages of Jiu-jitsu in the United States. Richard is widely recognized as the first student of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in the USA. For almost twenty years he worked closely alongside Rorion Gracie, helping to grow Jiu-Jitsu through the Gracie Garages, the Gracie Academy, and the early days of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was one of the first Americans to earn a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He still teaches Jiu-Jitsu and practices alternative healing in Los Angeles, California. Enjoy!

Attorney Spector serves as a law enforcement expert for Hassett & George. Elliot was a Hartford Police Officer from 1971 through 1980. Elliot's practice concentrates on the representation of law enforcement officers and municipalities. Tim is a high level competitor and silent pillar in the jiu jitsu community, he’s a father, coach, and a mustache aficionado! We talk about competing, the clashes of self defense vs sport, gi vs no gi, and geek out on all things Star Wars. It’s our longest episode to date but we jammed packed it and had a blast!

Episode 4 The Code Podcast has our next guest…The Rhino! We are joined by Professor Keith Owen who is a Third Degree black belt under Master Pedro Sauer. We cover all topics from how to lure back blue belts who quit, law enforcement engaging in training jiu jitsu, to Bruce Lee himself! Never a dull moment and always a straight shooter, Keith Owen hits the mark on many topics in this episode.
In our third edition of The Code we met up with Alana Galvin who created Just for Police and Just for Firefighters. Just for Police is a Service and Reward program established to show respect to, and provide professional services for, Police Officers who are buying and/or selling Real Estate. LEO Matt Hogan joins us to share his experience and how amazing the service is. A really humanitarian story as well as our usual interaction between each other, which is never a dull moment!
In our second edition of The Code we have an amazing LEO organization from our home state of CT, Our Heroes Fund! We chop it up about jiu jitsu and law enforcement, the importance of training. The amazing event held here in CT, The SWAT Challenge. And a whole lot of other great topics!
In our maiden voyage of The Code Podcast hosted by Pedro Sauer black belts Rob Magao and Rich “The Scarecrow” McKeegan. We kick off the first episode wit none other than the man himself, Prof Pedro Sauer! We sit down a couple of hours before Rich McKeegan’s black belt test and talk about Prof’s journey with jiu jitsu and where we are today in the martial art and sport. A fantastic way to start this podcast, so many stories and an amazing outlook on training and immersing yourself into the jiu jitsu lifestyle.
