OSS Tier II Course

The Officer Survival Series Tier 2 Program

is an extension of our basic OSS course.

OSS T2 is an additional 8 day program extending beyond the first course and will focus on teaching the OSS curriculum. The program will include course preparation and curriculum updates, as well as new material. The course will add additional components such as working with EMS personnel to better understand the role between EMS and law enforcement duties particularly when applying soft restraints and the chemical restraint process and procedure.

The course will also introduce handling of long guns and retention of long guns during arrest situations. Students will also learn how to work alongside K9 teams during the tracking and apprehension of suspects and the integration of K9 teams during team or multiple

Officer arrest situations, including what to do with a K9 in the event the handler is incapacitated during an incident.

Prerequisite : STUDENTS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE FIRST OSS 8 DAY COURSE TO ATTEMD TIER 2.

Students will be exposed to a variety of situations in which they will be required to teach back OSS curriculum during the course. Students will be heavily evaluated on their teaching abilities as well as their technical performance of all course curriculum.

Students that have successfully completed both Tier 1 and Tier 2 will be approved to teach the basic OSS Curriculum. Current OSS instructors will have their certification extended and new materials added to their database.
